: After their boat crashes over a waterfall on the Dnieper River, Harald and Mariam are the first to regain consciousness. They are quickly surrounded by Pecheneg warriors . Harald tries to protect the group by claiming he was transporting slaves who died, but he is taken prisoner and tortured by the leader, Tyrach , who seeks to find his brother.
