Quaritch, now hunting Jake personally, joins forces with Tulkun hunters to draw the Sullys out of hiding. The conflict reaches a climax during a massive sea battle: Tuktirey (Tuk) : His biological daughter
Although Spider saves the drowning Quaritch from death, he refuses to join him and returns to the Sully family. Following Neteyam's funeral, Tonowari formally accepts the Sullys as part of the Metkayina clan. Jake concludes that they can no longer run; they must stand and fight to protect their new home.
